Wound Care and Bandaging, Digital Workshop 2.
Workshop 1
In this session we will discuss different types of bandages that veterinary nurses may be required to apply to their patients. We will review the types of bandaging materials you will need for each one and tips and tricks for getting them to stay on even the most difficult patient. You will then get to practise how to apply these bandages yourself.
Students will need to have available a stuffed toy with limbs/body/head to bandage, as well as bandaging material – including cohesive bandage, conforming gauze bandage, Elastoplast, swabs, soffban, and micropore tape or similar.
Wound care and bandaging are essential parts of patient care and the correct understanding and management of wounds and bandaging materials has a great impact on duration and success of a patient’s recovery. Veterinarians and veterinary nurses play an integral role in the care and treatment of wounds. In this two-part digital workshop you will gain knowledge and skills that can be practically applied to improve patient outcomes.
This session will be recorded and will be accessible after the fact if you are unavailable on the day. However, as this is an interactive workshop, we recommend attending live if at all possible to gain the full benefits of the learning. Access to the online course with materials, recording and the quiz for your certificate will be available for three months following the date of the last workshop in the collection.
